About

Associate Professor of Spanish and Film Studies; Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Global Education, College of Arts and Sciences. (Ph.D. University of Massachusetts, 1989) Her research interests include Contemporary Latin American Literature, Film and Culture.  She has published and lectured internationally on film and literature, theater, and hybrid genre topics. President, Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association (2011-12).

Contemporary Latin American Literature, Film and Culture; and Spanish Film and Culture

Education:

Ph.D., University of Massachusetts, 1989

Study Abroad/ Overseas experience: Has presented in international scholarly conferences. Led the 2011 and 2012 Hearts in Motion/ WSU health missions to Zacapa, Guatemala, and will be leading the 2013 mission as well.

Recent Publications & Presentations

Her most recent presentations include Julio Cortázar and Fantomas: Popular Culture to the Rescue for the Latin American Studies Association International Conference in  San Francisco (May 2012); Heedless Women: Lucrecia Martel’s Exploration of the Female Psyche and Contemporary Argentinean Society for the PAMLA conference in Scripps College (November 2011); and the panel she organized and led on El género discursivo de lo crítico-literario en la narrativa posmoderna argentina for the 2011 AATSP International Conference in Washington, DC (July 2011), where she also presented a paper on Creación y crítica: la hibridación de discursos en la narrativa argentina.
