Dr. Lori Wiest

Lori Wiest received her doctor of musical arts from the University of Arizona, her master of music from Arizona State University, and her bachelor of science from North Dakota State University. She joined the WSU faculty in 1991.
Dr. Wiest is professor, director of choral activities, and voice area coordinator in the School of Music and conductor of the WSU Concert Choir and the Madrigal Singers. She is active as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the country, with professional performances as a conductor or singer at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York City and in Germany, Russia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Australia, and South Korea. In 2007, she was awarded a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support an American choral music festival and outreach.
Dr. Wiest recently served eight years as associate dean of the Graduate School and was conductor of the Spokane Symphony Chorale for twelve years. She is currently president of the Washington American Choral Directors Association.
