Q: How do I plug the microphone and headphones into the G3 Macintosh computers?

A: The following steps should be able to guide you through this process.

1. Look at the back of the computer and locate the holes that the microphone and headphones plug into.

2. The second step is to plug the headphones into the headphone hole.

3. Next the microphone should be plugged into the microphone hole.

Once both the headphones and microphone have been plugged in it should look like this.

Q: How do I turn on the microphone and headphones in the Macintosh OS?

A: The sound control panel is used to adjust the sound properties.

How To turn on the microphone with the Macintosh computers.

Step 1. Open the sound control panel.
First click the apple at the top left of the screen.
Then go down to the control panels tab. 
From there select the sounds option.

Step 2. Select the input tab at the top of the window.
Step 3. For a built in mic select Built-in Mic. For an external mic             select the device from list of recording devices.

If you cannot change the sound source: Deselect the “check signal level” option in the input section of the control panel. Try quiting all open applications and restarting them.
