We are now offering a new protocol for viewing audio and video materials streamed from the DFLC website.
As an added benefit these protocol changes may also help solve some of the firewall problems many students have been experiencing.
This document will describe how you can reconfigure your Quicktime Player's default protocol settings. You will be activating the HTTP protocol options within Quicktime Player.
First, open Quicktime Player from your Start Menu/Programs. Once the application is open, select the Edit Menu and pull down to the Preferences and Quicktime Preferences menu option (see picture).

The Quicktime settings window should appear. Click on the Advanced tab.
กก
Click on the pull-down menu that says Automatic and
select Custom.Change the menu that says UDP to HTTP. The port number menu
should read 80. If it does not say 80 change it accordingly.
Click OK.
Click OK in the Settings window.
With these changes completed you should be able to view and listen to all of the streamed video and audio materials, linked on the Foreign Languages Website, from off campus computers with DSL or Cable modem network connections. First Step wireless connections should also likely function properly.
