Exchange Conversion for Outlook 2003 PC:

1) Click the following link and activate the user's Exchange Account (After John D'Aleo has enabled the account activation for that user)

http://www.it.wsu.edu/Nid/mail_setup.html

2) Log into the user's Outlook and uncheck "leave mail on server" (or else duplicate email will be downloaded!).
Close Outlook and re-open, make sure it runs a mail check. Close Outlook.

3) Open the Windows Control Panel. Click on "mail" and then "Email Accounts" button. Select "Add a new email account". Click "Next"

4) Select the "Microsoft Exchange Server" radio button. Enter exchange mail server name "directory.wsu.edu". Enter the user's NID and check for validity. Click next / finish as applicable.

5) Open Outlook, give it a minute to set up new mail boxes. Go to "Tools" , "Email accounts", "view or change existing email accounts" and delete the user's mail.wsu.edu POP email account.  Do not delete other POP  email accounts unless asked to do so by the account owner. Outlook will continue to check these accounts normally.

This next step is optional based on the users preference. Exchange defaults to delivering email to the users local personal folders. If the user wishes to be able to access the email from more than one computer (a home computer, or a public computer while traveling, for example)  then the email must be stored in the user's Exchange mailbox instead of the personal folders.

6) Down below in the same window, where it says: "Deliver new email to the following location:" change delivery to - "Mailbox - Lastname, First, MI". This puts new incoming and sent email into the Exchange mailboxes instead of downloading to the local Personal Inbox/Sent box.

7) Copy or Move:

Calendar from Personal to Exchange, if desired
Tasks from Personal to Exchange, if desired
Contact List from Personal to Exchange, if desired.
