Professional Profile: Dr. Hyner’s research interests include German travel and pedagogical literature of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as it intersects with Romanticism, Sensibility (Empfindsamkeit), and gender. She has published articles on the works of Sophie von La Roche, G.E. Lessing, Eleonore Thon, and Gisela von Arnim. In the recent past, Dr. Hyner expanded her interest in women’s perspectives on physical and cognitive relocation to include fairytales. She currently explores the significance of gendered socialization and education in fairytales written by Marie von Olfers, Marie Timme, and Germany's most prolific tale-spinner, Benedikte Naubert.
