Russian Program Information
The Russian Federation is the largest country in the
world, offering a potentially huge market for varied cooperation with the
United States. Consequently, the Russian language is valuable for students
in international diplomacy, trade, environmental issues, and many other
fields. Because fewer Americans speak Russian than other European languages,
those who do have a competitive edge on the job market. Russia also enjoys
rich cultural traditions, and our Russian culture courses help students
enhance their sense of diversity.
The Russian Program offers a Major and Minor in Russian
Area Studies, as well as a Minor in culture and film. It also offers a
low-cost summer study-abroad program. The participants spend 5 weeks at
the Far Eastern National University (FENU) in Vladivostok, Russia, to
practice the language and experience the Russian culture. The Russian
Program offers scholarships both for the study-abroad program and for
new students.
