Falles 2008

    DFLC Falles 2008!

The DFLC Falles festivity burns away common mistakes in second language acquisition in a tribute to spring. This ritual originating in ancient Mediterranean cultures brought to the shores of Valencia in remote times, and now we also have it in Pullman. This artistic display totally transforms the city during what is called "Falles Week". True to the saying, only those who have actually seen it can believe it. Our "falla" is made with papier-mâché in a tribute to our students.

If you are registered in one (or more) of the DFLC classes, you can win a prize by answering an easy question your professor prepared for you.

If you are interested in participating then come to the Language Lab (Thompson 210) to enter your answers or follow this link and do it on-line.

Foreign Language Education Expansion Act

This bill introduced by US Congressmen Dennis Moore (D-Kansas) and Christopher Shays (R-Connecticut) would provide new teachers of foreign languages the same loan forgiveness opportunities as teachers of math and science. It would give teachers of foreign languages eligibility for loan forgiveness up to $17,500 if they teach in Title I elementary and secondary schools for five years. This bill addresses the teacher shortages in foreign languages and is designed to expand the number of teachers entering the field.
